Mechanical transmission is to transmit power and control through gears, racks, belts, chains and other parts. The main advantages are: convenient energy transmission; rapid signal transmission; high degree of standardization; easy to realize automation, etc. The disadvantages are: poor motion stability, easily affected by external loads; large inertia, slow starting and reversing; high cost; greatly affected by environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, vibration, and corrosion. In order to improve its transmission performance, it is often used in combination with mechanical or hydraulic transmission.
Pneumatic transmission uses compressed air as the working medium for energy transfer control. The advantages are: simple structure; low cost; easy to realize stepless speed regulation; small resistance loss; quick action and quick response; fireproof, explosion-proof, and good adaptability to the working environment. The disadvantages are: the air is easy to compress, and the load has a great influence on the transmission characteristics; the working pressure is low, and it is only suitable for small power transmission. It is suitable for mechanical equipment with small load and short-distance movement, but it cannot be used for heavy-duty equipment such as freight elevators.
